Betty (Johnston) Beckwith

Betty Lou Beckwith, age 87, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Mrs. Beckwith was born June 3, 1929 in Dekalb County to the late Nelson Clint Johnston and Minnie Annabelle (Stuller) Johnston.  She was married to William Beckwith on September 6, 1947 in Auburn, Indiana and he preceded her in death February 9, 2009.  Betty was a hardworking woman and employed as a clerk with Dollar General and G.C. Murphy’s in downtown Kendallville for more than 30 years.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.  She was a past member of the V.F.W. Post 2749 in Kendallville and past auxiliary president.

Survivors include:
Daughter and caregiver, Sherry and Dick Caldwell of Fort Wayne.
Two granddaughters: Stacie and Andy Holley of Leo and Holly Scott of Fort Wayne. Five great grandchildren: Ashely and Ben Klaehn, Kaley Scott, and Ryan Scott all of Fort Wayne; Cody Drudge and Chad Drudge both of Leo.
Brother, Harold Johnston of Auburn.
Sister, Fay Christlieb of St. Joe.
Sister, Alice Holmes of Auburn.
Sister, Beverly Jones of Fort Wayne.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Jack Johnston; and sisters, Dee Johnston and Nancy Sizemore. 

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Crossview Church, 12532 Grabill Road, Grabill, Indiana 46741 with Pastor Sherri Long conducting the service. Memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse or to the family. Arrangements by Hite Funeral Home of Kendallville.
