Bondell Elizabeth Leighty, age 90, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. Mrs. Leighty was born on March 23, 1927 in Monroeville, Indiana to the late Fredrick and Marietta (Gailey) Gunder.  She married Frank D. Leighty on February 8, 1946 in Kendallville.  He preceded her in death on September 16, 2009.  Bondie was employed with A-1 Production in the quality control department from 1958-1976.  After retirement she was a hostess for many years at Shook’s Restaurant in Kendallville. She was a long standing member of the Kendallville Moose Lodge, Noble County Fair Board, VFW Post 2749 auxiliary life member, American Legion Post 86 auxiliary past president, Noble County Farm Bureau Women’s League, and Sigma Beta Sorority.  

Survivors include:
Son, Ronald and Nancy Leighty of Kendallville.
Daughter, Connie and Terry Hanks of Fort Wayne.
8 grandchildren: Marc Schlichtenmyer of Kendallville; Ryan (Michele) Schlichtenmyer of Kendallville; Scott (Amber) Leighty of Albion; Todd Leighty of Fort Wayne; Chad (Crystal)Leighty of Columbia City; Jill Floyd of Lewisville, Texas; Bob (Melissa) Hanks of Arizona; Jaime (Tommy) Brown of Arizona.
12 great grandchildren: Laney and Levi Schlichtenmyer; Grace and Avery Leighty; Cayden and Camarie Leighty; Dylan, Austin, and Dane Hanks; Alexandria, Trevor, and Tyler Brown.
Special close friend, Mary Lou Shook of Kendallville.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen Bremer and two brothers, James Gunder and Jerry Gunder. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at Hite Funeral Home with Tom Novy officiating.  
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and honorary bearers will be Mary Lou Shook, Ferne Savoie, Fran Moran, Donna Rowlison, and Betty Berhalter. 
Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Noble Needle Workers or to the Noble Transit System.
