Coney Galbraith

Colnul Coney Galbraith, age 90, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.  Mr. Galbraith was born July 19, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Colnul Coney Galbraith, Sr. and Theresa (Sika) Galbraith.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country honorably during WWII both stateside and in the European Theatre.  He married Gladys Juanita Allen October 24, 1946 in Waterford, Michigan.  Originally from Pontiac, Michigan, Coney and Juanita moved to Kendallville in 1985 from Exton, Pennsylvania following Coney’s retirement from the Mobil Oil Corporation after 29 years of service.  He was also a safety manager with Mobil Oil in Schaumberg, Illinois.  In his early years, Coney was employed with General Motors and Vernors Corporation both in Pontiac, Michigan. 

Survivors include:
His wife of 70 years, Juanita Galbraith of Kendallville.
Daughter, Diane Vander Kaay of Kendallville.
Son, Gary and Eileen Galbraith of Leonard, Michigan.
Six grandchildren: Heidi and Gary Speelman of Kendallville; Becky Vander Kaay of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; David and Misty Vander Kaay of Kendallville; Brandon Galbraith of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Brett Galbraith of Leonard, Michigan; and Brice Galbraith and his fiancé, Kelly of Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Vander Kaay in 2000; and two brothers, Joseph Galbraith and Robert Galbraith.

Funeral services and visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Pastor Steve Barht will conduct the funeral service.  
Burial with military honors will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville. 
Memorial donations may be made to Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana.
