CORBETT MESSER, age 71, of Hudson, died on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Mr. Messer was born in Elmrock, Knott County, Kentucky on September 18, 1944 to the late Irvin and Dorothia (Smith) Messer.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966-1969.  He married Clara Mae Dickerson on October 10, 1970 at the Stroh Church of Christ in Stroh, Indiana.  Corbett was a concrete contractor and owned and operated Messer Brothers Construction from 1977 until his retirement in 2012.  Corbett’s family was the most important thing to him and he cherished spending time with his grandkids.  Corbett had many close friends and he enjoyed their company and companship.  Corbett also loved watching NASCAR.  Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver and he was so happy to be able to see Gordon’s final race.  Corbett enjoyed all sports and he loved watching Indianapolis Colts football, and Indiana and Purdue basketball.  He loved hunting and fishing.  He also loved gardening and he took great pride in  raising a huge, marvelous garden every year.

Survivors include: 
His wife of 45 years, Clara Messer of Hudson. Married 
Daughter, Cindy and John Watkins of Angola.
Son, Scott and Babette Messer of Auburn.
Daughter, Calena and William Houser of Leo.
Five grandchildren: Abby Miller of Hudson; Ivan and Samantha Wyant of Waterloo; Brooke Wyant of Auburn; and Zachary and Owen Houser of Leo.  
Great granddaughter, Morgan Everage of Butler.
Brother, Harold and Wanita Messer of Kendallville.
Brother, Granville and Brenda Messer of Hudson.
Brother, Burley Messer of Frankfort, Kentucky.
Brother, Dwayne and Gwen Messer of Leburn, Kentucky.
Brother, Irvin Messer, Jr. of Leburn, Kentucky.
Sister, Rita and Paul Dobson of Lexington, Kentucky.
Sister-in-law, Coleen Conley of Leburn, Kentucky.
Brother-in-law, Rada Terry of Lexington, Kentucky.
Numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
 
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Audrey Terry and Alice Messer; and his brothers, Orville, Roy, and Denzil Messer.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 pm at the Stroh Church of Christ, 4540 S. 1100 W., Hudson.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Stroh Church of Christ.  There will be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Mike Hamm.

Burial with military honors will be at Wright Cemetery near Stroh.

Memorial donations may be made to Camp Chief Little Turtle, Pleasant Lake or Indiana Organ Procurement Organization.  

Active casketbearers will be: Gary Frehse, Jim and Eric Kjendalen, Josh Messer, Ivan Wyant, Jeremy Hayward, William and Zachary Houser. 

Honorary casketbearers will be Ned Hayward, John Watkins, Lance Kjendalen, Kevin Messer, Robert and Brad Davis.
