DANIEL LEE LAYTON, age 67, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Mr. Layton was born in Charleston, West Virginia on June 6, 1947 to the late Donald Lee Layton and Beatrice Claire M. (Coonrod) Martin.  He graduated from Monroeville High School in 1965 served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.  He married Eileen Marie Rowan on April 16, 1966 in Coldwater, Michigan.  Dan worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 33 years. He also worked at Bostwick Braun in Ashley 12 years and most recently at Georgetown Place in Fort Wayne as a security officer.  Dan and Eileen opened their home as foster parents for 12 years.  He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Arcola Road near Fort Wayne where he was active with the Knights of Columbus, Council #13971, 3rd degree.  He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.  He served as union steward of IUE-CWA Local 901 at General Electric.

Survivors include: 
Wife, Eileen Layton of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Cheryl (Rick) Whitaker of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Son, Gary (Tracy) Layton of Channahon, Illinois.
Son, U.S. Navy Commander, Jason (Crystal) Layton of Cedar Point, North Carolina.
Daughter, Shannon (Tom) Kulback of Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Daughter, Rebecca Layton of Sturgis, Michigan.
Daughter, Alicia Kirkland of Fort Wayne.
Son, Nickolas Layton of Tennessee.
16 grandchildren.
Sister, Sonja (Daryl) Dafforn of Hudson, Indiana.
Sister, Marcia (Michael) Bramkamp of Florida.
Brother, Anthony (Veronica) Martin of New Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Derrick Kirkland in 2010.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12305 Arcola Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46818.  There will be rosary service at 7:30pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Msgr. Thadeus Balinda celebrating the mass.with an hour of calling before the funeral mass.

Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Smile Train.

Casketbearers will be Zachary Carr, Jacob Layton, Caleb Layton, David Dafforn, Mark Dafforn, and Melisa Jackowiac.
