Fred Allen Shatzer

Fred "Allen" Shatzer Jr., age 59, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.  Mr. Shatzer was born on May 26, 1958 in Whitley County, Indiana to Fred Allen Shatzer Sr. and Janet (Jennings) Shatzer.  Allen graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1976.  He continued his education at ITT in Fort Wayne and in 1984 he earned an Associates Degree in electrical engineering.  On March 1, 1980, Allen married the love of his life, Lois Gibson in Columbia City.  Allen was a general contractor and worked in woodworking as a cabinet builder.  He had an extreme passion for firearms and belonged to the NRA.  He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, relaxing on the porch, and watching lightning storms.  Allen enjoyed playing pool and would travel with different leagues around the Fort Wayne region.  He loved his family, friends, and would always lend a helping hand to anyone or animal in need.  
Survivors include:
Spouse, Lois Shatzer of Fort Wayne.
Parents, Fred Allen Sr. and Janet Shatzer of Arizona.
Daughter, Jessica and Steve Deskins of Ligonier.
Daughter, Lindsay Redhawk of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Stephanie and John Tilbury of Albion.  
6 Grandchildren.
Sister, Roxanna Mcewen of Arizona.
Brother, Kenneth Shatzer if Arizona.

Allen was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Aaron Redhawk.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 1:00pm at 5612 North 50 West, Columbia City, Indiana 46725.
Officiating the memorial service will be Pastor Steve Briggs.
Memorial donations may be directed to Visiting Nurse Hospice Home or Cancer Services of Northern Indiana.
