Geneva (Hoover) Hicks

Geneva (Hoover) Hicks, born March 8, 1942, left her earthly home for streets of gold on Saturday, January 23. She lived most of her life in the Kendallville area. She married David Odell Hicks (preceded in death) and had 2 children, Lisa Fair and David (Jr) Hicks.  She adopted Derek.  She has 3 grandchildren, Seth, Britany and Ryland. She worked at Kraft Foods until she retired.  She was preceded in death by her parents Clovis and Flora (Terry) Hoover, 2 brothers, Grant and Granvil and both of her sisters, Jean Garza and Diane Gamble. What a reunion that had to be.  Geneva was a passionate about serving God until the very end. Dementia may have robbed her of her independence but it never robbed her of her desire to sing and praise the Lord. Breast cancer was just a tool used so she could go home. 

A church service will be held in honor of Geneva on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 11am at the Full Gospel Revival Center, 2722E 900N, Rome City, Indiana. Burial will take place at a later date. The family requests no flowers to be sent to the service.

"Don’t bring me flowers when I am dead, come see me today, while I’m sick in bed. Don’t cry for me, when I am no longer here, come smile with me, no need for tears. Don’t try to remember how I use to be, come by today and you can see. Make good use of time, while I’m still around, don’t wait for tomorrow, when I’m in the ground. And don’t give me a funeral fit for a king, the day I die everyone should sing, because you saw me through sorrow and strife, and yes my friends, all through my life."
