Henry “Bill” Betley, 87, of Fort Wayne, went to dance with his wife in heaven on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 1:10 am at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne. Born October 4, 1930 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Clara (Kintz) and Alexander Betley. Bill was a Korean War Veteran and a retired Electrical Engineer at International Harvester/Navistar. Hobbies included: the Harvester Toy Store, wood working, softball, bowling, and golfing. Bill was a known as a character: The Mayor of Waynedale, and Archie Bunker to name a few. He loved to dance and party. He was a friend to so many, always willing to help or give advice. He will be truly missed. Survivors include: Daughters; Rita A. Whitman of Kent, Washington and Brenda Betley (Bill Slabach) of Churubusco. Brother, Ted Betley of Fort Wayne, Grandchildren; Adam Whitman (Claudia) and Clara Faye Betley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye A. Betley, and sister, Vera Chapman. Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Trinity English Lutheran church, 450 W Washington Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. Funeral Services will be at Trinity English Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11 am with one hour viewing before the service. The American Legion 241 will be providing a luncheon after the funeral at noon. Burial at Perry Township Cemetery near Huntertown at a later date. The preference is no flowers: Memorial Contribution to the American Legion 241 or Visiting Nurse and Hospice home in Bill’s memory.
