IRVIN WILLIAM CROY, age 85, of Kendallville died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Chandler House near Kendallville.  Mr. Croy was born in rural Dekalb County, Indiana on June 8, 1930 to the late Charles and Marie (Kirschner) Croy.  He graduated from Avilla High School in 1949 and from 1951-53 served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He married Patricia D. Crothers on September 25, 1953 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla. Pat preceded him in death on September 20, 2006.  Since 1856 and for five generations, the Croy family has been in the welling drilling business.  Irv started Croy Brothers Well Drilling in 1959 until his retirement in 1992 but he continued working every day with his boys until about two years ago.  Jim and John Croy carry on the legacy of Croy Brothers Well Drilling today.  He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and the Avilla American Legion.  Irv loved going to all of his grandchildren’s ball games and events.  He also enjoyed taking them to Major League Baseball games in the summertime.  He loved fishing and working outdoors. 

Survivors include: 
Daughter, Joni Jenkins of Kendallville and her fiance, Matt Weimer of LaGrange.
Son, Jim and Doris Croy of Kendallville.
Son, Jeff and Cathy Croy of Kendallville.
Son, John Croy and his fiance, Rhonda VandenTop of Kendallville.
11 grandchildren: Chad and Erin LaCross of Fort Wayne; Summer and Delmar Bontrager of Wolcottville; Steven Oesch and his fiance, Kalyn Fischer of Indianapolis; Joshua and Kim Croy of Wolcottville; Andrew and Christina Croy of Kendallville; Danielle and Josh Bolen of Kendallville; Branden Croy of Kendallville; Jessica and Jared Hill of Alexandria; Evan Croy of Kendallville.
10 great grandchildren. 

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kara Lynne Croy in 2005; grandson, Douglas William Oesch in 1987; son-in-law, Bill Oesch in 1996; sister, Lillian Surface; and his brothers, Lawrence Croy, Bob Croy, Don Croy, Otto Croy, and Glenn Croy.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 3-8:00 pm at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:00 pm at CrossPointe Family Church, 210 HighPointe Crossing, Kendallville.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Richard Secor.
Burial with Military Honors will be at Avilla Cemetery.

Military Honors provided by Avilla American Legion Post #240 and Active Duty US Army.
Memorial donations may be made to CrossPointe Family Church or Heartland Hospice.
Casketbearers will be grandsons, Chad, Steven, Joshua, Andrew, Branden, and Evan.
