James Stanley "Stan" Fordeck

James Stanley "Stan" Fordeck, age 92, of Avilla, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Fordeck was born on July 21, 1924 on the family farm near Avilla, Indiana to the late Joseph James and Inez (Johnson) Fordeck.  He graduated from Avilla High School and honorably served his country in the United States Army. On November 11, 1946 Stan married Wanda Lee Summers in Bryan, Ohio. He owned and operated Yewlanda Landscaping for 68 years and was the first licensed nursery man in the state of Indiana. He also work as a union electrician. For 31 years, he was on the Noble County R.E.M.C. board of directors. Stan was crafty and enjoyed making birdhouses, lawn ornaments, and indoor waterfalls.  He loved spending quality time with Roxy, his canine companion.  The family would like to share their deepest appreciation to James Fordeck, Chelsea Miller, and Linda Yoder for their care giving and kindness to Stan.   

Survivors include:
Son, Gary and Elizabeth Fordeck of Avilla.
Daughter-in-law, Vickie Fordeck of Auburn.
Seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.  

Stan was preceded in death by his spouse, his son, Jim Fordeck; two brothers, Allen Fordeck and William Fordeck; and a nephew.   

Graveside funeral services and military honors will take place Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
