Joyce Ann Whan, age 75, of Kendallville, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Whan was born May 1, 1942 in Noble County near Kendallville, Indiana to the late Donald Earl Wilson and Maxine Elizabeth (Schwab) Wilson. She graduated from Avilla High School in 1960 and married Paul A. Whan on October 7, 1961 at Trinity Church in Kendallville. Paul preceded her in death on December 7, 2007. Joyce was a homemaker and mother and obtained her college degree from Purdue University late in life. Along with her husband, they owned and operated Diehl’s Sporting Goods on Main Street in Kendallville for about 13 years. She later became vice president of the Three Rivers Federal Credit Union in Fort Wayne in 1985 and after she retired, she went to work at Noble Hawks Golf Links in Kendallville. She also helped take care of many elderly people in their homes and volunteered at church for many years.
Survivors include:
Daughter, Terri and Jeff Keck of Phoenix, Arizona.
Daughter, Tracy Whan of Fort Wayne.
Son, Todd and Susannah Whan of Lexington, Kentucky.
Six grandchildren: Kevinn and Deana Keck of Flagstaff, Arizona; Jeremy and Ana Keck of Scottsdale, Arizona; Cliff Hannon of Fort Wayne; Callie Lehman of Fort Wayne; Emma and Adrian Redd of Lexington, Kentucky; and Nicklaus Whan of Lexington.
Three great grandchildren: Jeremy Ryan Keck, Emilee Keck, and Kaylee Keck.
Three step great grandchildren: Taylore Lowry, Payge Lowry, and Payne Lowry.
Sister, Diann and Jerry Stienbarger of Kendallville.
Sister, Suzanne Flagg of Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 1:00 – 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville with Pastor Chris Stephens officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville with her grandchildren as pallbearers.
