Kenneth Dean Halferty

March 2, 1933 ~ January 11, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old


Kenneth D. Halferty, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  Mr. Halferty was born March 2, 1933 in Kendallville, Indiana son of the late Donald Edward and Mable Malee (Engle) Halferty.  He graduated from Albion High School in 1951 and was married to Audrey Buehrer on October 18, 1953 in the E.U.B. Church in Avilla.  He proudly served his country from 1954-1957 in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class and graduated from Purdue University with a pharmacy degree in 1959.  The young couple moved to New Haven to raise their family and after becoming a registered pharmacist he worked at a number of retail pharmacies in the Fort Wayne area.  He retired from Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in 1996.  After retirement, he and Audrey enjoyed traveling to Ireland, England and Mexico. He was a member of First Assembly of God where he served as elder and usher. 

Survivors include:
His loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Halferty.
Daughter, Valerie Graham of New Haven.
Sister, Peggy Earnhart of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kirby Halferty (1990); son-in-law, Donald Graham (2012); brother, Edward Halferty; sister, Doris McCoy; and brother-in-law, Dean Earnhart. 

A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God, 1400 West Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in New Haven.  Memorial donations may be made to First Assembly of God.
