Happy Birthday Grandpa, we are all missing you. As I look forward to another family wedding, it is with a full heart. I am full of love and comfort that we will celebrate and remember you with the strength of many--the unbreakable roots that you and Grandma created that is our family. Dear Mrs. Mayers, Laurie, Larry, Karen, Mark, Susan, David, Julie and all your family members,
I wanted to let you know that even though I am very far away in South Africa, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have wonderful memories of your dad, and was happy to share many of those memories with my family when we passed through Ft. Wayne and visited Kensignton on the way to our family trip to Michigan in June. I told my kids about Mr. Mayers sitting in a lawn chair in the backyard in the middle of the snow with Grandpa Pongonis, and described to them the fun times at block parties and your cottage at the lake. I will forever hold the happy thoughts of Mr. Mayers in my heart. Love, Kate

Grandma and my family,
Grandpa is one of the most amazing men I will ever know. The world is truly a better place because he was part of it. We are so fortunate to be part of a huge, wonderful, loving family and I hope that Houston and I are lucky enough to be as happy as you and grandpa in 56 years.
I will always remember the way he looked at his whole family with a loving, proud twinkle in his eye and called me 'pun'kin.'

To Grandma Mayers and the whole Mayers Clan,
I've been fortunate enough to be around your family for 5 wildly happy years. Over that time I've come to know as many Mayers as I can, and I've learned a lot. Most of it can be boiled down to the importance of family and the happiness that hard work and love can bring. Mr. Mayers was a shining example of that and I've tried to take his model to heart. Liz and I are a far cry from 56 years but if we were able to love each other the way you did and raise a family of people half as good as all your children and grandchildren then we would be doing alright.
My deepest condolences to the entire family for your great loss, I only regret that I couldn't get Liz back to the lake to be with all of you. We wish we were there to remember Grandpa Mayers with a cold beer or two.

I just lost avery good friend and neighbor, Larry I'm going to miss you. I enjoyed coming over to see you on tuesdays. I wish i could have made more. I really wanted to visit you when you got to Sacret Heart Home, but I left it up to your family which I knew where coming. The family comes first. I also can't thank you enough for always mowing my lawn, I felt so guilty.. You were the best, and may GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU... PS Say hi to Mary for me...
