Max Napier, age 71, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at his residence in Avilla. He was born in Mousie, Kentucky on June 15, 1946 to James Napier and Grace (Wicker) Wicker. He married Betty Sue Handshoe on April 15, 1969 in Clintwood, Virginia. Max was a welding foreman for Conrail. He worked on the railroad for more than 30 years. He loved Bluegrass music, camping and fishing, the Kentucky Wildcats, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Wife, Betty Napier of Avilla.
Mother, Grace Wicker of Presence Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.
Son, Jerry and Vicki Napier of Kendallville.
Son, Terry and Angie Napier of Wolcottville.
Daughter, Bridgett Southwood and companion, Keith Mapes of LaGrange.
Son, Wesley Napier of Avilla.
Daughter, Bobbie and Rodney Manns of Avilla.
Seven grandchildren: Jerry Tyler Napier, Lisa Napier, Kevin Napier, Brent Manns, Sabra Manns, Nathan Manns and Kyle Manns.
One great grandson, Owen.
Brother, Roby Conley of Kendallville.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Morris Wicker officiating the service.
Burial will take place at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Manns, Kyle Manns, Brent Manns, Rodney Manns, Kevin Napier, Chris Conley, and Keith Mapes. Honorary bearers will be Jack Chaffins and Jerry Tyler Napier.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Noble High School Unified Knights.
