MICHAEL EUGENE BAIRD, age 62, of Wolcottville died on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Mr. Baird was born in Kendallville, Indiana on May 1, 1953 to the late Donald Eugene Baird and Velma Mae (Hileman) Baird.  He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1971. He married Marilyn Fay Freed on May 8, 1976 at the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.  Mike was a lineman for CenturyLink and employed there for more than 35 years before retiring in 2013.  He loved going fishing with the grandkids and deer hunting with his daughters.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hay and crop farming, and raising his Belgian and Quarter horses.  Most of all, Mike loved spending quality time with his family.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wolcottville.

Wife, Marilyn Baird of Wolcottville.
Daughter, Jamie and Derrick Potts of Elberfeld, Indiana.
Daughter, Jennifer and Nick Rusk of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Julie Byrd of Wolcottville.
Daughter, Jill and Melvin Boyle of Wolcottville.
Seven grandchildren: Delanie and Desie Potts; McKenzie Rusk; Brady, Reese, and Austin Byrd; and Emma Boyle.
Step mother, Helen Baird of Kendallville.
Sister, Teresa and Jeff Sampson of Sturgis, Michigan.
Sister, Sarah Jane and Don Ritchie of Hamilton Lake.
Brother, Bobby and Tammy Baird of Howe.
Brother-in-law, Randy Scott of LaGrange.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Scott in 2011.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Keith Perry.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange.

Preferred memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Wolcottville.
