RICHARD E. GAGE, age 87, of Kendallville, died on Monday, January 19, 2015 at home.  Mr. Gage was born in Cosperville, Indiana on September 27, 1927 to the late Frank and Alice (Caldwell) Gage.  He graduated from Albion High School in 1945 and entered the United States Navy during WWII.  He married Joanna Helen Randol on May 24, 1952 and she preceded him in death in January of 1995.  In 1985, Richard founded Metalcraft in Wawaka and was part owner.  He enjoyed working, spending time with his family, traveling, and playing golf.

Survivors include: 
Son, Tom Gage of Patong, Thailand.
Son, Jim Gage of North Webster.
Daughter, Jill Hendrickson of Columbia City.
Son, Tim and Linda Gage of Larwill.
Five grandchildren: Luke (Shelly) Hendrickson of Columbia City, Mark Hendrickson of Albion, Laura (Todd) Gaerte of Albion, Kassondra Gage of Fort Wayne, Gabbrielle Gage of Larwill.
Two great grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
Brother, Fred and Grace Gage of Fort Wayne.
Sister, Norma Bogner of Columbia City.
Sister, Carolyn and James Pippinger of Green Center.

He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Hendrickson, who died April 27, 2005; and his brothers, Robert, James, William, Thomas, and Harry "Bud" Gage.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:00am at Hite Funeral Home.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Ken Weaver.

Burial with military honors will be at Sweet Cemetery near Albion.

Preferred memorials may be made to American Cancer Association.
