Robert D. Smead

Robert D. Smead, age 94, of Fort Wayne, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Woodview in Fort Wayne.  Mr. Smead was born on October 21, 1922 in Grabill, Indiana to the late Louis and Leah (Neuhouser) Smead.  He graduated from Leo High School in Leo.  Robert served his country honorably with the United States Army during World War II.  On December 30, 1944, Robert married Doris Virginia Kinsey at Fort Benning, Georgia.  In 1947, he and his wife accepted Christ into their lives.  Robert was a house painter for 60 years and owned and operated Smead Decorating.  He enjoyed reading the Bible, camping, and spending time with his family and loved ones.  

Survivors include:
Daughter, Sandra and Paul Anderson of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Julie and Rev. David Koch of Wisconsin.
Son, Robert II and Beth Smead of Harlan.
7 grandchildren.
10 great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brothers, James, Arthur, Charles, Oscar, and William; sisters, Leah, Bessie, Mary, Iva, and Florence.  

Funeral service will take place on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:00pm at Woodburn Missionary Church, 5108 Bull Rapids Road, Woodburn, Indiana with calling two hours prior from 11:00am-1:00pm.  
Burial will take place in Scipio Cemetery near Harlan.
Officiating the services will be Son-in-law Rev. David Koch.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the family to be donated to Robert's favorite Christian ministries.
