SHIRLEY MAE TRASTER, age 88, of Kendallville, died on Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the emergency room at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, Indiana.  Mrs. Traster was born in Allen Township near Kendallville, Indiana on June 13, 1927 to the late Willard and Clora (Becker) Zinn.  She graduated from Avilla High School in 1945, attended Manchester College, and graduated from the Fort Wayne Methodist School of Nursing in 1950.  On August 17, 1952 in Kendallville, she married Darrell "Skip" Wayne Traster.  Shirley was a registered nurse at McCray Hospital for 36 years before retiring in 1986.  She was a very active member of the Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville for many years.  She volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society as service chairwoman and with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.  She loved spending time with her family, traveling and camping all over the country, and being at the ocean.  She enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, and sitting on her front porch.

Survivors include: 
Her husband of 63 years, Darrell "Skip" Traster of Kendallville.
Daughter, Sharrel and Richard Wells of Kendallville.
Daughter, Jennifer and Jeffery Luttman of Kendallville.
Daughter, Janet and Walt Domer of Kendallville.
6 grandchildren: Angela and Ryan Cassidy of Argos, Indiana; Elizabeth and Chris Way of Madison, Indiana; Emily and Chad McKinley of Kendallville; Hillary and Matthew Risk of Noblesville; Erin Domer and Taylor Durstine of Youngsville, Pennsylvania; Melissa Domer of Kendallville. 
7 great grandchildren: Anna Cassidy, Will Cassidy, Max Way, Libbey Way, Carter McKinley, Owen McKinley, Charlie Domer.
Sister-in-law, Jeanne Zinn of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. 
Brother-in-law, Harry Walter Marshall of Kendallville.
She was preceded in death by her four sisters; Althea Falesnik, Hilda "Pat" Marshall, Anna Faye Zinn, Mary Esther Zinn; brother, Elmer Zinn; and foster sisters, Mary Ruth Feller and Mae Kelham

Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8:00 pm Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 am at Trinity Church United Methodist, Kendallville with one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Christopher Stephens and Rev. Jim Kane.

Memorial donations may be made to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or Parkview Noble Foundation.
