Vonna Corrine (Loxley) Hoffman

June 23, 1923 ~ April 14, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old


Vonna Corinne Hoffman, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 14, 2017.  She was born in Columbia City, Indiana on June 23, 1933 to the late Carl Loxley and Marie (Lambert) Loxley.  She graduated from Columbia City High School and attended MacMurray College.  Prior to her marriage to Richard Hoffman on October 11, 1953 she worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  After she was married, Vonna was an active participate and multiple award winner for years in the Garden Club of Indiana.  She was a long time member of the Philomathean Society. She enjoyed growing annuals and perennials, fruits and vegetables and exhibited her talents in flower arranging through her participation in the Alter Guild and Fellowship Circle.  She also served as Sunday school teacher and choir member at St. John Lutheran Church.  Vonna was actively involved with the family farm duties including driving the tractor.  She also served as secretary of the corporation and worked as a teacher’s aide for six years in the math resource center at Columbia City High School.  In her spare time, Vonna was an avid Cub’s fan and she enjoyed watching sports. 

Survivors include:
Husband of 63 years, Richard Dean Hoffman of Columbia City, Indiana.
Son, Jeffery Robin Hoffman of Columbia City.
Son, Kent and Cheryl Hoffman of Columbia City.
Daughter Jill Marie Hoffman of Columbia City.
 Sister, Arlene Loxley Watson of Florida. 
Four grandchildren: Angela HoffmanTaulbee, Adam Hoffman, Lindsey Hoffman, and Morgen Hoffman.
Three great grandchildren: Wesley, Dylan and Levi Hierholzer. 
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Dylan Hoffman.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 5:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, 2465 West Keiser Road, Columbia City.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:00 - 5:00 PM.
Burial will follow the funeral service at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. John Lutheran Church Alter Guild.
