Lester,
I feel like we got to be pretty close in the past few weeks i remember the day we were in the van going to get things like it was yesterday and how you told me about alot of things. It's too shocking that just a few days ago i saw you at judy's and now your gone. But i found that hotwheel i told you about that was at walgreens and i got it, they were running a sale. But i hope i see you when i get to heaven and we can talk about more stuff and go to a boxing match like i told you i'd go to with you that one day.
Jimmy,
I know that this doesn't hurt anyone of us as much as it hurts you, it was so unexpected. You've had a hard last few years but i hope that's going to change in these next few. I'll be praying for you Jim.
Love you both,
Jeffrey

I've known Lester since around the late 60's when he and his mom and dad moved in beside us on Gertrude Street. We quickly became best friends and spent many years playing outdoors , fishing , hiking and just loved spending time together. We had lots of fun and I'll never forget that. After we grew older, we kind of went our own ways but I'd still see Lester and his son around town shopping at the local stores. We'd talk about the good old days and how we'd love to do it all over again. I was shocked to hear of his passing and hope that someday I will meet him again in Heaven. We can then enjoy our childhood all over again as many times as we want.

Lester i miss you now more than words can say.A piece of my heart is missing that i wont be able to get back.I have two guardian angels here on earth our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST and you big brother. You have watched out for me worried about me and helped me out in life. We were so close you and i thats what makes this so hard for me. Part of me is being selfish wishing you hadnt left us so soon but the other half of me is saying that i am happy you are at peace now and that you are in a better place. You were able to reunite with the love of your life your beloved Judy Martin who you missed so dearly after she passed away in 2009. You were a Husband, Father,Son,Brother, and a good friend to all that knew and loved you. You will be missed dearly by me, Jimmy and everyone. I also want to say Thank You for serving our country when you were in the Army. You are my hero I salute you Until we meet again bro. Lester Martin JULY 10 1962-MARCH 24 2012 REST IN PEACE

Lester i've thought about you ALOT and i can't seem to stop thinking about you, it just doesn't seem real, they say time helps, but if anything it just makes the pain of losing someone like you way worse, I love you Lester and i will always think of you as my uncle, But i just thought that i would stop and say hi, I know that you were really proud to have served our country in the military and i'm thankful you told me a little bit about it so i got a little bit of a scenario of what it was like over there. But when i get to heaven and i see you the FIRST thing we will do is see that boxing match and catch up, any boxers you want to watch. who knows maybe we get another Frazier vs Ali?
Uncle Lester i love you man and will never, ever forget you....ever,
Jeffrey Hicks

Les,
It doesn't seem real that you're gone. I feel like it's a daze everytime Jim comes over and you're not with him. I feel so weird going to the house and only getting to talk and visit with Jim, everything is so...different without you here. But I know you're in a better place and I know you're much happier. I love you and miss you more than you'll ever know. Jim missed you too! Please give Nanny, Jude, and Leslie all a hug and kiss for me.
Until Next Time,
Jayla
