RUSSELL LEE SPEARS, age 64, of Kendallville, Indiana, died on Friday, April 27, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Spears was born near Martin, Kentucky on May 6, 1947 to the late Elmer and Laura (Johnson) Spears.
He married Sherry Ann Hall on August 14, 1991.
Russell was a fork lift operator and employed with Dalton Foundry for a total of 45 years. He also worked other part-time jobs to provide for his family. In his free time, he loved gardening and fishing.
Survivors include:
His wife, Sherry Ann Spears of Kendallville. Son, Russell, Jr. and Lian Spears of Montclair, New Jersey. Daughter, Faye Spears and her companion, Rob Grimes, Jr. of Quincy, Michigan. Daughter, Patricia Marie Spears and her companion, Jeff Taylor of Kendallville. Step-son, E.J. and April Wright of Fort Wayne. Step-daughter, Janie Wright Hall and her companion, Todd Moore of Frankfort, Kentucky. Step-daughter, Janice Wright of Drift, Kentucky.
Ten grandchildren: Bryon and Tori Waddles of Kendallville; Taylor Leatherman of Albion; Brett Leatherman of Quincy, Michigan, Soliton Spears of Fort Wayne; Mya Spears of Montclair, N.J.; Whitney Hall of Georgetown, Kentucky; Kody Little of Lexington, Kentucky; Heather and Joseph Caldwell of Lexington; Joylin McCloskey of Fort Wayne; and Cain Wright of Fort Wayne. Three great-grandchildren: Carter Waddles, Luke Giggy, and Khloe Waddles.
Sister, Barbara Lackey of Bevinsville, Kentucky.
Sister, Mildred and Sill Click of Noble, Oklahoma.
Brother-in-law, Paul Dye of Tiro, Ohio.
Many neices and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hobert and Buster Spears and his sisters, Aileen Burke, Shirlene Spears, Anna Jean Johnson, and Melvina Dye.
Visitation will be Monday, April 30, 2012 from 4:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street in Kendallville. There will be a service at 7:00pm led by Old Regular Baptist preachers.
Visitation will also be Wednesday after 2:00pm at the Little Rock Old Regular Baptist Church on Route 1498 at Jack’s Creek near Bevinsville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00am at Little Rock Old Regular Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Scott Burke Cemetery on Frozen Fork Road near Bevinsville, Kentucky.
