LLOYD READE JR., age 63, of Kendallville died on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.
 
He was born in Kendallville on October 8, 1946 to the late Lloyd and Wilma E. (Bishop) Reade.
 
                       
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1964.
 
He married Janet  Strouse on June 4, 1967 at the First Christian Church in Kendallville.  She survives in Kendallville.
 
Mr. Reade worked as a truck driver for 44 years retiring in January of this year. He drove for many years with CMW Transport of Kendallville. Prior to that he drove with Weiss Trucking in Mongo and Amerigas Propane.
 
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Kendallville, a former member of the Kendallville Moose Lodge, a member of the American Huey Assocation and a member of the American Trucking Assocation.

Mr. Reade enjoyed traveling, reading, coin collecting, bird watching and watching old westerns and NASCAR on TV. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.
 
Survivors include:
Wife; Janet Reade of Kendallville
Two daughters; Melissa and Tony Carpenter of Kendallville and
Kim and Ryan Henderson of Naperville, Illinois,
Seven grandchildren; Dylan Carpenter, Austin Carpenter, Alexandra Carpenter, Kaylyn Henderson, Tyler Henderson, Cole Henderson and Jenna Henderson.
 
Two sisters; Caryoln and Reed Taylor of Howe, Indiana and
Sharon and Jerry Fritz of Wilmington, North Carolina.
Five sisters-in-law; Edie Reade of St. Robert, Missouri, Linda Bortner of Kendallville
Marilyn Klink of Wolcottville, Jane Parker of Scottsdale, Arizona and Jeannine Liechty of Kendallville
Several nieces and nephews
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Jack Reade and one sister; Betty Lou Reade.
 
Visitation will be Monday, July 26, 2010, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral Services will be Monday, July 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.
Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Dr. Thomas Clothier.
Preferred Memorials may be made to Noble County Humane Society.

Janet, Melissa, and Kim - I am so sorry to hear about Lloyd. I have a lot great memories from being at your house in high school. Lloyd (and Janet) were both a lot of fun and proud of their girls! Wishing you peace in the days that lie ahead.

Janet, I was so sorry to hear about Lloyd. I had more than one good times growing up with Lloyd. I sorry I can't make the funeral, but I will always have a warm place in my heart for both of you.
