Kendallville - Maxine D. Summers, 89, of Kendallville died on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.
She was born in Nevada, Iowa, on July 7, 1920, to the late Clarence Virgil and Ruth Esther (Melohn) Donaldson.
Mrs. Summers married Maynard Stephen Summers on Jan. 1, 1938, in Kendallville. Mr. Summers passed away March 11, 1991.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Summers has been a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and Wee Campers both since 1975.
She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville where she belonged to the Rosary Sodality.
Mrs. Summers was also an avid bridge and card player, a 60 year member of the American Legion Auxillary, a Girl Scout leader for 25 years in Kendallville and more than anything loved to spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Janet and Ronald Zaucha of Avilla; a son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Sandra Summers of El Paso, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven Great-Great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Evelyn Summers, one brother, Gene Donaldson, one granddaughter, Heidi Kilburn; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Kilburn.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kendallville.
Officiating the funeral service will be Fr. James Stoyle.
Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville, Indiana.
Casketbearers will be Logan Conley, Jayce Wilcox, Dustin Wilcox, Zachary McCue, Roger Molargik and Anthony Atkison. Honorary Casketbearers will be Brian Summers and Jayden Conley.
