NELVA JEAN HAWKS, age 63, of Brimfield, died on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
Mrs. Hawks was born in Risner, Floyd County, Kentucky on January 27, 1947 to the late Newton and Sina (Ousley) Davis.
She was employed at Silgan Plastics as a quality inspector for 35 years before retiring in 2001.
Nelva loved to joke with her family and friends, cook for her family, and do ceramics.
She was always interested in new technology.
Her biggest accomplishment and joy in her life was raising two great children and helping to raise her grandchildren.
Survivors include:
Daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Joseph Weaver of Witmer Lake, Wolcottville.
Son, Frank Hawks and his companion, Carie Beckley both of Brimfield.
Eight grandchildren, Michael May of Brimfield, Frankie Hawks of Fort Wayne, Kolby Weaver of Witmer Lake, Hailey Weaver of Witmer Lake, David Weaver of Howe, Bobbie Bontrager, Michael Shaffer, and Brooke Diehl.
Brother, Burchel Davis of Hicksville, Ohio.
Brother, Virgil Davis of Angola.
Brother, James Davis of Farmer, Ohio.
Sister, Sylvia Schneider of Kendallville.
Sister, Mona Ewalt of Waterloo.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Dyer and infant, Ora Lee Davis.
Visitation will be Monday, February 15, 2010, from 3:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10:00am at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.
Burial will be at Orange Cemetery in Rome City, Indiana.
