Betty June Ehlers, age 85, of Kendallville, passed away at her home Monday morning, March 1, 2010.
Mrs. Ehlers was born in Kendallville on June 23, 1924, to the late Atlee J. and Esther Belle (Flanders) Taylor.
She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1942 and married John "Jack" Ehlers on October 11, 1946, in Kendallville. Mr. Ehlers preceded her death March 18, 2005.
Betty worked at her father's shoe store, Taylor's Shoe Store, and Chronister's Pharmacy for 15 years, both in Kendallville. She also volunteered her time with McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville in the gift shop.
She was also a homemaker.
Betty was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville and enjoyed working the "white elephant" table at the St. John Lutheran Church Fall Bazaar.
She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several local clubs.

Betty loved to have garage sales in the summer time and she enjoyed spending time with her family and longtime high school friends.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John Scott and Mary Ehlers of Venice, Florida; a daughter, Christine Ann Howard of Rome City; three granddaughters, Angie and Steve Sibert of Kendallville, Summer and Josh Treesh of Kendallville and Megan Ehlers of Sarasota, Florida; and four great-grandchildren, Kane and Taylor Sibert, and Caden and Mason Treesh.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 3-7 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 5, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home. Officiating the funeral service will be the Rev. Paul B. Griebel.
Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville, Indiana.
Preferred memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
