EMMA KATHRYN HICKS, age 67, of Kendallville, died on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at her home in Kendallville.

Mrs. Hicks was born in Fort Wayne on December 15, 1942 to the late Ernest Roy and Alice Mae (Faye) Thomas.

She graduated from Rome City High School in 1960 and married Wayne Hicks. He preceded her death November 5, 2008.

Kate was employed with Flint & Walling in Kendallville for 32 years before retiring in 2007.

She was an Indianapolis Colts football and Pacers basketball fan, and Atlanta Braves baseball fan.

Kate was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and grand kids.

Survivors include:
Daughter, Laura Mae Cook of Kendallville.
Daughter, Sandra Kay Shepherd of Kendallville.
Son, Gary Lee Hicks of Avilla.
Son, Harold Douglas Hicks of Montana.
Son, Larry and Melissa Hicks of Kimmell.
Eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Sister, Mrytle Wells of Wolcottville.
Brother, Ralph Thomas of Rome City.
Brother, Jim Thomas of Georgia.
Brother, Harley Thomas of Middlebury, Indiana.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Thomas and sisters, Dorothy Slusher and Anna John.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2010, from 4:00-8:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Chris Mosley.
Burial will be at Orange Cemetery in Rome City, Indiana.

Casketbearers will be her sons, Gary, Doug, and Kevin Hicks; Ralph Thomas, Dustin Hicks, and Randy Shepherd.
