MARTHA LUCILLE STIFFNER, age 87, of Kendallville, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at North Ridge Village Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albion.

Mrs. Stiffner was born in Albion, Indiana on July 7, 1922 to the late Ray and Altha (Grossman) Stillinger.

She graduated from Rome City High School in 1940 and from Tri-State Secretarial College in 1941.

She married Ralph Wilson Stiffner on March 4, 1944 at the Wawaka Church of the Brethren parsonage. He preceded her death December 13, 2007.

Martha was a retired secretary from the Noble REMC. She was also employed with Butler and Black Insurance Agency in Albion and she worked in the cafeteria at Rome City School in the past.

Martha was a longtime member of the Brimfield United Methodist Church in Brimfield where she served as the church pianist for 70 years.

She also served as the church secretary, the Administrative Council secretary, and the United Methodist Women secretary and treasurer. She enjoyed geneology and playing the piano. As a young lady she played the violin in her high school orchestra.

Survivors include: Daughter, Carolyn and Clayton Morr of Wawaka. Daughter, Alice Stiffner of Kendallville.

Four grandchildren and their spouses: Christine and Ric Jordan of Wawaka; Carol and Mike Selby of Albion; Jennifer and Wayne Diehm, Jr. of Kendallville; and Joel Streich of Wawaka.

Great grandchildren: Jacquelyn and Kory Walkup of Avilla; Kimberely, Olivia, Wayne III, and Clayton Diehm all of Kendallville; Anna and Mikey Selby of Albion. One great-great granddaughter, Allison Walkup.

Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2010, from 3:00-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00am at Brimfield United Methodist Church, in Brimfield. There will be an hour of calling before the service Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Omer Nisley. Burial will be at Orange Cemetery in Rome City, Indiana.

Casketbearers will be Ernie Cook, Jeff Hosted, Ric Jordan, Mike Selby, Wayne Diehm, Jr. and Joel Streich.

Preferred Memorials may be made to the Brimfield United Methodist Church or Parkview-Noble Home Health & Hospice.
