David "Grubby" Grubb, age 78, of Kendallville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Orchard Pointe in Kendallville. David was born at the family home on State Street in Kendallville, Indiana on September 21, 1945, to the late Robert Louis Grubb and Ruth (DePew) Hile. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1965 and International Business College in Fort Wayne. He honorably served his country from 1966-1968 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Linda Lucille Allen on September 16, 1966 at First Methodist Church in Kendallville. He worked for the Harman family (Harman IGA) serving the Kendallville community for 10 years before acquiring Jim's Pizza. Grubby owned and operated the famous Jim's Pizza in Kendallville for 30 years before retiring in 2013. His son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Wendy, now own the Kendallville icon. 

David served as President for the Kendallville Youth Baseball Association. He enjoyed camping with his family at Indiana State Parks and in Michigan. He worked part-time alongside long-time friend Kevin Roberts for Roberts Construction. Grubby enjoyed were throwing horseshoes, participating in a Men's Softball league, bowling, having breakfast with friends and playing cards with his beloved poker buddies. Another passion David had was restoring his '57 Chevy. David enjoyed relaxing on the water fishing with friends. Many cherished memories have been made at his favorite fishing destination, Nagagami Lodge in Canada. For 16 years, he shared a fishing boat with his son and many different friends. Grubby cherished spending time with his family and friends. He didn't know a stranger and had no enemies. He will be missed by many every day.

Wife, Linda Grubb of Kendallville.
Son, Mark and Wendy Grubb of Kendallville.
Daughter, Elissa and Stu Hambrick of Fort Wayne. 
Daughter, Angela and John Malone of Kendallville.
Ten grandchildren including Tyler and Ally Grubb of Auburn; Kristina and Alex Girardot of Fort Wayne; Taryn and Matt Woodward of Diamond Lake, Wawaka; Ashley and Frank Vuocolo of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Lily Grubb of Kendallville; Aaron Beard of Fishers; Christopher Hambrick of Fort Wayne; Caroline Hambrick of Fort Wayne; Ian Malone and Andrew Malone both of Kendallville. Nine great grandchildren also survive.
Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Betty Allen of Kendallville.
Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Loren and Mary Allen of Kendallville.

David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Grubb and Richard Grubb. 

Visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 23, at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Bibbe officiating.
Burial with military honors will take place at Lake View Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tyler Grubb, Aaron Beard, Ian Malone and Andrew Malone. Honorary bearers are his poker club buddies including Tom Shellenbarger, Michael Haney, Marlin Lawrence, Richard Sibert, Bill Fenstermaker, and Dave Hurley.
Memorial donations in Grubby's honor, may be made to Humane Society of Noble County.
