Norman B. Brinker, age 77, of Kendallville, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Carmel, Indiana. Norman was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on December 8, 1946 to the late Elmer Bernard Brinker and Leatha Lucetta (Gaby) Brinker. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1964 where he played football and was known as "Stormin' Norman". He honorably served his country in the United States Army as Military Police in Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He married Kathleen Joy Friend on August 12, 1972, at Indian Village Church of God, Auburn, Indiana. Norm was an avid golfer and he aced two holes-in-one in one season. He loved Pepsi, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Chicago Bears football and Chicago Cubs baseball.
Survivors include:
Wife, Kathy Brinker of Kendallville.
Daughter, Tracey Brinker Palmer of Kendallville.
Son, Hans and Rachel Brinker of Kendallville.
Son, Heath and Christy Brinker of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee.
10 grandchildren: Serek Palmer of Ligonier; Krauss Short of Ligonier; Starr Elaine Bea of Kendallville; Isis Valdez of Goshen; Beth Brinker of Kendallville; Breydon Brinker, Makenna Brinker, Triston Brinker all of Mt. Carmel, Tennessee; Samarah Schumm and Johnny Wood. 8 great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 9th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Visitation will also be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Crosspointe Family Church, Kendallville.
Funeral services with military honors will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Crosspointe Family Church, Kendallville. Pastor Richard Secor will officiate the funeral service.
