Buretta Handshoe, age 73, of Kendallville, died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Handshoe was born on July 22, 1945 in Big Springs, Kentucky to the late Oka and Dorothy (Brown) Hicks.  Buretta married Thee Handshoe on June 25, 1960 in Clintwood, Virginia.  Thee preceded her in death on April 21, 2006.  She loved playing Bingo and spending time with her ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  She enjoyed watching college basketball and was a big Kentucky Wildcat fan.  Most of all, Buretta loved her family and always hosted family gatherings at the home that she and Thee shared for over 60 years.  She will be greatly missed by the many people who knew and loved her.  

Survivors include:
Son, Rick and Valerie Handshoe of Avilla.
Daughter, Bertha and Randy Coburn of Kendallville.
Son, Gary and Sue Handshoe of Auburn.
10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Sister, Bonnie Harrod of Mousie, Kentucky.
Sister, Barb and Allen Metcalf of Celina, Ohio.
Brother, Marion and Marilyn “Skeet” Hicks of St. Mary’s, Ohio.
Brother, Kenny Hicks of Big Spring, Kentucky.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Grace Christian Church, Kendallville with Rev. Willie Collins officiating.
Burial will take place at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
