Chad Lee Wappes, age 63, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.  Chad was born in Garrett, Indiana on October 6, 1954 to the late Gene “Pete” Peters and Donnabelle May (Miller) Peters. He graduated from East Noble High School in 1973 where he excelled as an athlete in basketball and track. He married Lynda Sue Lepley on April 5, 1975 at the Ashley United Methodist Church.  Chad was employed for many years with Dana Corporation in Syracuse and Fort Wayne.  He was also employed with Warner Gear in Auburn, and Quick Tanks and Reliable Tool in Kendallville.  He retired from Flint & Walling in Kendallville in 2014.  He loved spending time with his family, watching his grandkids play sports and working in his yard. He was a member of the South Milford Church of Christ and the Sons of the American Legion Post 240, Avilla. 

Survivors include:
Wife, Lynda Wappes of Kendallville
Daughter, Jaymee Wappes of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Lynsee Wappes of Kendallville.
Son, Nate and Carrie Wappes of Avilla.
Niece, Kim and Eric Bell of Avilla.
9 grandchildren: Brooks Miller, Jordan, Ashlee, and Amber Pliett; Riley Spencer, Alivia Wappes, Cailyn Lash, and Maitlen and Morgan Booth; nieces, Erica and Kyle Dice and Elliston; Ashli Bell and Cole; Brooke Bell, and Lindsey Bell.
Brother, Brett and Pam Peters of Avilla.
Brother-in-law, James “Woody” Woodward of Garrett.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Woodward in 2012.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 – 7:00 PM at the South Milford Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Chad will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the South Milford Church of Christ followed immediately with a luncheon at the church. Pastor Brian Walter will officiate the service and there will be visitation at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
Burial will take place at Circle Cemetery, Hudson.
Pallbearers will be Nate Wappes, Brooks Miller, Brett Peters, Jeff Bender, Rick Beiswanger, Terry Bryan and Kevin Bryan.
A memorial scholarship will be established in Chad’s memory to the Impact Institute for an East Noble student pursuing vocational trades.
