Dale Gene Combs, age 91, of Avilla, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Parkview Noble Hospital.  Mr. Combs was born on April 9, 1926 in LaGrange, Indiana at his home to the late Lona Henry and Gladys (McNeer) Combs.  Dale served his country honorably and received a Purple Heart with the United States Army during World War II.  Dale married Betty Combs and she preceded him in death.  Dale married Doris (Graham) Maxson Combs on January 21, 1978 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville.  He graduated from Barber College in Indianapolis.  Dale owned and operated "Dale's Barber Shop" for  25 years in Rome City.  He also worked as a mail handler for the United States Postal Service in Fort Wayne.  He loved wood working, gardening, fishing, and hunting.  
Survivors include:
Spouse, Doris Combs of Avilla.
Daughter, Connie and Mike Baker of Kendallville.
Son, Thomas Gene and Connie Jo Combs of Syracuse.
Step-son, Alan and Sue Maxson of Kendallville.
Step-daughter, Kay and Jim Rose of Rome City.
Step-daughter, Beth and Clark Ream of Kendallville.
13 Grandchildren.
19 and 1 on the way Great-grandchildren.
2 Great-great-grandchildren.
Sister, Roberta Saddison of Sturgis, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parent, first wife, brothers; Stanley and Gail Combs, Sister; Barbara Miller.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville, Indiana 46755.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 228 North Main Street, Avilla, Indiana 46710.
Burial with Military Honors will take place at Orange Cemetery following the service.
Officiating the services will be Father James Stoyle.
