Dolores Ruth (Friestad) Prokupek

Dolores Ruth Prokupek, age 92, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla, Indiana.  Mrs. Prokupek was born on August 30, 1925 in Harding, Illinois to Fred and Isabelle (Peterson) Friestad. She married Alvin Joseph Prokupek on July 10, 1955 in Hinsdale, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2009.  Dolores was a registered nurse for 40 years and employed with Dr. LaRue in Western Springs, Illinois.  She also worked at Hinsdale Seventh Day Adventist Hospital as well as private duty nursing.  Dolores was active in the past in the Hinsdale Seventh Day Adventist Church.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, collecting, going on long walks, making jellies, cats, and visiting her childhood family farm. 

Survivors include:
Son, Craig and Jody Prokupek of Auburn.
Granddaughter, Joelle Prokupek and her husband, Chris Dempewolf of Seattle, Washington.
Granddaughter, Haley and Cesar Reis of Loma Linda, California.
Grandson, Jay Prokupek and his fiancé, Amanda Ogden both of Charlotte, North Carolina.
She was preceded by her parents; two sisters, Arlene Friestad and Marjorie Taggart; two brothers, Francis Friestad and Stanley Friestad. 

Visitation will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will also be Friday at 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home with Tom Novy conducting the service.
Burial will take place Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, Ottawa, Illinois. 
Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Fund of Presence Sacred Heart Home.
