Doug Buckland Obituary

Douglas Neil Buckland, 45, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in the arms of his wife after battling cancer for over 2 years.  Doug was born on October 16, 1972 to Herbert and Jennie (Kiester) Buckland in Goshen.  He graduated from West Noble High School in 1992.  After graduation he started working at Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors in Ligonier where he stayed until his illness was too much.

On December 10, 2016 he married the love of his life, Faye Buckland.  He opened his heart to Faye’s daughters, Mya Elizabeth and Addison Deming.  He loved them as his own.

Doug enjoyed everything about being a Rockabilly Greaser.  He played in many bands as a lead guitarist.  His favorite band was his last, “Pistol Pete & The Hellcats.”  His love of cars was evident in his everyday life.  He founded the Koolville Kreepers Car Club and was proud to be the President until his dying day.  Every year he couldn’t wait to head to Indianapolis for the Road Rocket Rumble and to be a part of what he described as “His idea of Heaven.”  When Shane Weber and the Cincinnati Rolling Jokers restored his 1954 Chevy, he added a special place in his heart for all of them.  He spoke of the love he had for every one of them in his final days.  For the first time in his life, he found a love for pageants, basketball, volleyball and track.  These were his step daughters’ favorite activities and when he became too ill to attend, he always needed a play by play during the events and a full report after Faye returned home.

Doug will be remembered for being the quiet guy that shot flames with the cool car, or maybe the dude with the cool hair and all the tattoos.  To those who knew and loved him though, he will be remembered for his kind heart, his generosity and his love of family.  A true gentleman that would move mountains, so his girls were safe, happy and taken care of.  He was an anchor for Faye, Mya, Addison, Ronnie, Kyla and Jackie that will forever be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hite Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. An easy entrance for Hot Rods would be off Gold Street.
