Dr. Donald Paul “Doc” Danklefsen, 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his home on Crooked Lake in Angola. Born October 26, 1940 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Donald and Lucille Danklefsen.
Dr. Danklefsen attended Southside High School, and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from service, he graduated from Purdue University and Palmer Chiropractic College. Upon receiving his doctor of chiropractic degree, he pursued advanced applied kinesiology and acupuncture studies in London for two years. Dr. Danklefsen served the Kendallville and surrounding communities for more than 39 years as a chiropractor and considered it his life’s work. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to Florida for winters and watching his son coach the Trine University women’s softball team.
He is survived by his lovely wife Barbara; his son, Paul and wife Jenny of Gilberts, Illinois; his son, Ted of Laredo, Texas; his daughter, Tracey of Angola, Indiana; his daughter, Beth and husband Chris of San Jose, California; his daughter, Amie and husband Mohamed of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and his son, Donnie and wife Holly of Angola, Indiana. He is also survived by his brother, Robert of Monroe, Louisiana and by 10 nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville followed by a celebration of life service at 6:00 PM.
Memorial donations in Doc’s name may be made to PURA Syndrome Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
