Ethel Marie Taylor, age 100, of Kendallville, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. Mrs. Taylor was born in Kendallville, Indiana on May 3, 1918 to the late John and Mary (Sobieski) Hornett. She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1936 married Dexter L. Taylor. Dex preceded her in death on March 7, 1985. Ethel was a school cook at the Kendallville Middle School. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rosary Sodality, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge all in Kendallville.
Survivors include:
Daughter-in-law, Nancy Taylor of Fort Wayne.
Granddaughter, Leslye and Bryan Yarde of Fort Wayne.
Grandson, Chris and Laura Taylor of Fishers.
Four great grandchildren: Abygail Yarde, Zachary Taylor, Madison Taylor, and Joshua Yarde.
She was also preceded in death her only son, Craig Taylor in 2003; seven sisters, Mary Borck, Catherine Hornett, Elizabeth Knott, Helen Graham, Theresa Owen, Leona Konger and Josephine Holbrook; five brothers, Edward Hornett, Stephen Hornett, James Hornett, John Hornett, Eugene Hornett.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville with a vigil service at 4:30 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kendallville with Fr. James Stoyle officiating the mass. There will be calling at the church at 9:30 AM.
Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.
Pallbearers will be Dude Holbrook, Larry Holbrook, Abygail Yarde, Zach Taylor, Madison Taylor, and Josh Yarde.
Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Noble Hospice.
