Flora Banke Dula

Flora Dula entered life eternal on January 29, 2018, at home in Fort Wayne, surrounded by family.  Flo was born January 12, 1929, to Emil and Gertrude (Hoeldtke) Banke. She was the youngest of their six children. Her sister, Florine Johnson of Oklahoma City, survives.  Having been married to an Air Force officer, Col. B.F. Dula, she lived in many locations; from Greenland to California and Ohio, spending the last 44 years of her life in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a Certified Medical Assistant and worked for several years for insurance companies. 

She is survived by her four children: Elease and Suzan of Ocean Park, Washington; Jayne Sheafer (Mark), Fort Wayne and Robb, most recently of Indianapolis and now of Fort Wayne. Robb is a brain injury survivor and Flo spent the last 20 years caring for him and making sure he had every opportunity to live a full life. She said caring for him was one of the greatest honors of her life.  She is also survived by three beloved grandchildren: Kendra Dula, Olympia, Washington; Daniel Sheafer, Fort Wayne;Matthew (Lauren) Sheafer, Saukville, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank Visiting Nurses Hospice of Fort Wayne, especially Jennifer K., whose professionalism, love and care helped us immeasurably through this journey. 

A lifelong member of The Lutheran—Church Missouri Synod, she found great comfort in the saving faith she found in our Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Indianapolis. She was an avid reader and member of the book club at the Warren Township Library. 

The funeral will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 West Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, on Friday, February 2 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will be at the church for two hours before the service (11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.). Rev. Thomas Eggold presiding.  Memorials may be made to the Concordia Theological Seminary Student Tuition Fund, 6600 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
