Francis Richard Frederick

Francis Richard Frederick, age 77, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.  Mr. Frederick was born in South Bend, Indiana on February 12, 1942 to the late George Edward Frederick and Frances Kathryn (Parker) Frederick.  He graduated from Central High School, South Bend in 1960 and Indiana University.  He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1968, while stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.  Upon his return from the service, he married Suzanne Bergland on August 17, 1968 in Mishawaka, Indiana. He served in the Army, Navy and Air Force reserves for over 20 years. Francis was employed with GTE in Elkhart, ITT in Fort Wayne, and Branstrator Products, Fort Wayne.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 241, Waynedale; Sons of Union Veterans; and the Army Navy Union Organization. 

Survivors include:
Wife, Suzanne Frederick of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Patricia and John Casey of Fort Wayne.
Son, Edward Frederick of Kilgore, Texas.
Three grandchildren: Christopher Casey, Alexander Casey and Edward Frederick, III; and two step grandchildren: Joey Casey and Shelby Casey.
Brother, George Frederick of Dowagiac, Michigan.
Sister, Carol Grey of Indianapolis.
Brother, Dennis Frederick of Marion.

There will be a gathering Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the chapel on the campus of the V. A. Hospital in Marion, Indiana.  Burial with military honors will also take place on Friday at 11:00 AM at the committal shelter at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
