Sad to hear about Great Uncle Howard, but he lived a long life. I did not get to see him a lot due to living far away, though I remember liking the visits we made with grandma and grandpa (Lorraine and Norman) in the summertime when we all made the trip. My sympathy and condolences go out to his family and loved ones. <3

My sympathy to my cousins at this difficult time. Howard was always my favorite uncle. I remember when I was a little boy my parents went to vote in the Presidential election, probably 1956. I asked if they were going to vote for Uncle Howie. I remember my disappointment when they said he wasn't running for President. He was a great guy in my eyes then and now. I will remember uncle Howard fondly forever.

To Howard's Family: I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember the early days of our neighborhood on Richmond & Wood Streets and our parents all being friends, circa 1950's, and the fun we had as children...all my first memories have Howard & Scottie, & all of us in them. Howard was always a pleasure to chat with over the years & had an incredible memory...he is another one of the greatest generation. May your happy memories comfort you. Sincerely, Stephanie Calkins McLane

Condolences to the family. Howard was a friend and great story teller. I love talking with him about old Kendallville. He was a true historian and what a gentleman. It was a pleasure to know him.
