Ivan Dale Dressler, age 86, died Monday, July 31, 2017 at Presence Sacred Heart in Avilla, Indiana.  Mr. Dressler was born September 4, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Raymond David Dressler and Mary Josephine (Lemish) Dressler.  He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married Patricia Ann Borden on November 26, 1953 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville.  Ivan was employed with Campbell & Fetter Bank for 20 years as head cashier and loan officer.  Later, he worked as a rural letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 20 plus years before retiring in 1996.  Ivan was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2749, Kendallville where he served as Quartermaster, Sergeant-at-Arms, and on the Honor Guard. He was the current president Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Company where he also was a director and past insurance sales agent.  He served on the East Noble School Board in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  Ivan was a lifetime farmer and he loved working on his farm.

Wife, Patricia Dressler of Kendallville.
Son, Kurt and Lori Dressler of Kendallville.
Daughter, Michelle and Michael Sullivan of Goshen.
Son, Kevin and Sandy Dressler of Kendallville.
10 grandchildren: Jessica and Ryan Schoof, Nicole and Aaron Hoyt, Matthew Dressler, Julie and Dustin Harmon, Marci and Woody Young, David Dressler, Tony Dressler, Mitchell Sullivan, Dindy Dressler, and Stephanie Dressler. 
12 great grandchildren.
Brother, Don and Suzie Dressler of Avilla.
Sister, Martha Heckler of New Haven.
Sister, Norma Jean and Larry Reeves of Kendallville.
Sister, Mary Compton of Troy, Ohio.
Sister, Lois and Lynn Liebing of Avilla.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Bherns and two sisters, Joan Dressler and Eleanor Shearer.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avilla.  Fr. James Stoyle will conduct the mass.
Burial with military honors will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville. 
Pallbearers will be Kevin Dressler, Kurt Dressler, David Dressler, Tony Dressler, Brad Wilson, and Dean Gillespie. Honorary bearer will be Donnie Dressler.  
Memorial donations may be made to the V.F.W. Post #2749 or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
