Jack Lee Funk, age 87, of Big Long Lake, died Monday, November 12, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Mr. Funk was born August 22, 1931 in Kendallville, Indiana to the late Irvin Clarence Funk and Helen Louise (Baumle) Funk. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1951 and entered the United States Air Force proudly serving his country in Japan from 1951-1954 during the Korean War. He married Patsy Jean Myers on October 19, 1957 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. He was employed for 31 years with International Harvester before retiring in 1982. Jack was a member of St. Mary’s of the Angels Catholic Church, Big Long Lake, Knights of Columbus, and the Orland American Legion. He loved the outdoors, hunting and woodworking. He was a “Jack-Of-All-Trades” and could fix anything.
Survivors include:
Wife, Patsy Funk of Big Long Lake.
Son, William Funk of Hamilton.
Daughter, Rebecca Hillier of Kendallville.
Son, Timothy Funk of Arvada, Colorado.
Three grandchildren: Dustin and Brittney Hillier of Angola; Desiree Hillier of Kendallville; and Airman Travis Funk, Elgin AFB Florida. Two great grandchildren: Sydnee Hillier and Maddux Hillier.
Sister, Sharon Wilsey of Westler Lake, Wolcottville.
Brother, Lynn Funk of New Haven.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Funk.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s of the Angels Catholic Church, Big Long Lake, with Fr. Vincent Joseph officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Riley Hospital for Children or to masses.
Burial will take place later at Wright Cemetery.
