James Thomas Bruce, Jr.

James Thomas Bruce, Jr., age 77, of Kendallville, died Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.  Mr. Bruce was born September 30, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to James Thomas Bruce, Sr. and Ethel (Martin) Bruce.  He was retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant with 30 years of honorable service to his country.  He was also retired from the Chicago Police Department following 30 years of faithful and dedicated service to the citizens of Chicago.   He married Eva Sue (Eastman) Rodgers in 2010 in Florida and moved to Kendallville where she survives him.  Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 86 in Kendallville and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 in Chicago.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Jim’s life at their home at 813 Village Court in Kendallville on Sunday, July 28th from 2:00-4:00 PM.  There are no funeral services scheduled. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Hite Funeral Home.
