Jo Ann Goodman, age 67, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. Mrs. Goodman was born on March 1, 1950 in Weeksbury, Kentucky to the late Astor and Ruby (Spriggs) Meade. She married David Goodman on March 12, 1977 in Wise, Virginia and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2016. Jo Ann was employed first as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later became a Qualified Medical Assistant. She worked in various nursing homes in the area caring for the elderly for many years. She was a member of the True Church of God in South Milford and she enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing bingo and fishing. Most importantly, she loved spending quality time with her grandchildren. She loved having birthday parties and family gatherings.
Survivors include:
Daughter, Melanie and Jeff Creek of Huntertown.
Son, Troy Prater of Florida.
Nine grandchildren: Toni Morton, Kayla Baxter, Joanie Hardy, Grace Bramlett, Brandi (Mason) Snider, Gracie Creek, Devin Prater, Cierra Creek, and Joseph David Bengs.
Ten great grandchildren including great grandson, John David Snider.
Many nieces and nephews.
Sister, Lorene “Rene” Shepherd of Kendallville.
Sister, Mary and Hugh Tuttle of LaGrange.
She was also preceded in death by two sons; Tony Prater in 1983 and Scott Twaits in 1997; and her brothers, David “Doc” Meade, William “Bud” Meade, and Selsus “Dick” Meade.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Mosley officiating.
Burial will take place at Orange Cemetery near Rome City. Pallbearers will be Grace Bramlett, Cierra Creek, Gracie Creek, Jeff Creek, Joseph Bengs, Brandi Snider and Randy Shepherd. Honorary bearer is Mason Snider.
Memorial donations may be made to her family.
