Opal Terry, age 62, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. Opal was born December 30, 1955 to Alex and Nancy Jane (Handshoe) Terry at Handshoe, Kentucky. She was the youngest of 13 siblings and Opal and her sister, Corine shared the same birthday. She moved to Indiana in 1978 and was known to her friends and co-workers as “Opie”. Her first job was at the old Lutheran Home on Mitchell Street in Kendallville and retired from Group Dekko in Rome City after 27 years of service. She loved visiting family and friends, Kentucky basketball, Bluegrass music and pretty flowers. Opal fought a long, hard battle with cancer over the past 8½ years and she made many friends along the way who were facing the same battle. With her family caring for her needs, Opal never gave up and she fought hard until the end.
