Patsy "Pat" Nelson

Patsy (Pat) Burelison Whipple Nelson was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  She was 85 years old.  Pat was born on April 1, 1932 to Charles Leroy (Roy) Burelison and Edna Louise (Harris) Burelison in Delaware County, Indiana.  She married Walter Basil Whipple on December 30, 1950, but he preceded her in death in 1958.  She later married Edward Nelson on November 22, 1961 and he too preceded her in death in 2004.  Pat graduated high school at Center School in Selma, Indiana.  She spent her life as a homemaker and loved her life raising her children, sewing their clothes, was an avid reader, loved to make crafts, and anyone who visited our home was treated to a wonderful meal.  Chicken and noodles and yeast rolls were some of our favorites.  Pat's greatest love was her Lord Jesus Christ.  She spent her life in the love and service of her Lord teaching Sunday School, writing her own Bible studies and sharing Jesus with everyone she could.  She was a member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene.  She has left a wonderful Godly heritage to her family.  

Pat was survived by her children: Vicki Whipple Frederick, Fort Wayne, Indiana; Becky (Tim) Bryan, Indianapolis, Indiana; Phil (Sandy) Whipple, Brown City, Michigan; Bob (Cheryl) Nelson, Ottawa, Illinois; and Randy Nelson, Louisville, Kentucky.  Her grandchildren; Beth Frederick, Andrew (Kylee) Frederick, Renee (Nick) Clark, Steve (Carrie) Bryan, Timothy (Teresa) Bryan, Josh (Katie) Whipple, Mike (Jess) Whipple, Bobby (Amy) Nelson, Phaedra Morrall, Cassie Nelson, and Nathan Nelson.  She had 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.  Her five sisters also survive her: Jewel Norris, Marsha (Cedric) Johnson, Rachael Bell, Charlotte (Duane) Beals, Ginny (Tom) Richardson, as well as her sister-in-law, Lucy Nelson and brother-in-law, Al (Chris) Nelson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sons; Terry Whipple, Scott Nelson, Rodney Nelson, and her son-in-law, Charles Frederick.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 11:00am at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene.
Burial will take place at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be directed to Christian Literature for Africa.
