Phillip Allen Smith

Phillip Allen Smith, age 75, of Kendallville, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at his residence at Chandler Place.  Mr. Smith was born January 17, 1943 in Sturgis, Michigan to Ova and Beulah (Poynter) Smith. He graduated from Wolcottville High School in 1961 and entered into the United States Army where he honorably served his country from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War. He married Amber Ruth Morr on December 17, 1970 in Wolcottville, Indiana and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2008.  He was employed with the Kendallville Foundry for 24 years and Courier in Kendallville before retiring in 1998.  Phil was a member of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church and Life Member of the VFW Post 2749 in Kendallville.

Survivors include:
Son, David and Aracely Smith of Marlton, New Jersey.
Daughter, Lisa and Michael Steele of Bradley, Illinois.
Son, Duane Smith of Fort Wayne.
Five grandchildren: Jennifer (Nicholas) Boehrnsen, Benjamin (Melissa) Steele, Joshua Steele, Alexa Smith, and Jeremy Smith. 
One great grandson, Connor Boehrnsen.
Sister, Marjorie and Leon Hollingsworth of Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. 
Visitation will be Friday prior to the funeral service from 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
Burial with military honors will take place at Woodruff Cemetery in LaGrange County.
Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Honors Guard and active duty United States Army troops.
Memorial donations may be made to Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
