 RICHARD “Dick” JETT JR., age 71, of Fort Wayne died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. 

Dick was born in Guerrant, Kentucky on October 8, 1940 to Richard  Jett Sr. and Ellis (Griffith) Jett.  His mother survives. 

He graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1958.     

Dick honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. 

He owned Jett's Fine Meats in Fort Wayne for 26 years until 1989.  After his business was destroyed by fire he worked for Life's Dream Charted Yachts in the Gulf of Mexico and the on the Great Lakes as a first mate and chef.  He later worked as a butcher at Venice Meats in Venice, Florida for ten years. 

Dick was a former member of the American Legion Post # 47 in Fort Wayne and was a shriner with the Mizpah Shrine in Fort Wayne. 

Survivors include:

his mother; Ellis Jett of Jackson, Kentucky
one daughter; Sonja L. Hernandez of Fort Wayne
one son; Richard Jett IV of Fort Wayne
four grandchildren; Jordanne, Jose, Daisy and Remington
Wanda Jett of Fort Wayne
one sister; Patricia A. Young of Jackson, Kentucky
one sister-in-law; Judy Jett of Jackson, Kentucky
 

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother; Everett L. Jett. 

A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Road in Fort Wayne. 

Officiating the memorial service will be Pastor Jim Pearson.
