Robert Edward Newton, age 75, a lifelong resident of Kendallville, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 5, 2018 at his brother, Mick’s home, rural Kendallville. Mr. Newton was born in Kendallville, Indiana on April 3, 1943 to the late Elmer Thomas and Grace Phyllis (Engelbrecht) Newton. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1961 and served in the Army National Guard from 1962-1968. Bob was employed for many years at Haney Glass in Kendallville and later worked on his own as a contractor carpenter. Along with his dog, Fig Newton, he was actively involved with and a member of the Indiana Search and Response Team based near Rome City.

Brother, Mick and Linda Newton of Kendallville.
Niece, Jenny Newton of Kendallville.
Niece, Jackie and Monte Perry of Edgerton, Ohio.
Niece, Lisa and Jim Babyak of Waldron Lake, near Rome City.
Niece, Amy McNutt of Kendallville.
Nephew, Scott McNutt of Kendallville.
Great nieces and nephews: Shelby and Jason Kimmel of Avilla; Gabe Brady and Kobe Brady both of Edgerton, Ohio; Nick and Adam Babyak both of Waldron Lake.
He was preceded by his parents; sister, Patricia McNutt; and his dog and companion, Fig.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville with Pastor Mike Albaugh officiating.
Funeral services will also be held Saturday at 3:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Indiana Search and Response Team.
