Russell Medley

Russell Earl Medley, age 86, lifetime resident of Columbia City and Whitley County, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.  Mr. Medley was born in Auburn, Indiana on December 11, 1932 to the late John and Georgia (Leatherman) Medley.  He entered the United States Navy and honorably served his country during the Korean War.  He married Martha Williams on February 10, 1954 in Keavy, Kentucky and she survives him. Russell was employed for 30 years with International Harvester before retiring in 1985.  He also owned and operated Nature’s Creation and Crafts for 17 years. 

Survivors include:
Wife, Martha Medley of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Carolyn and Tom Cull of Columbia City.
Daughter, Brenda and Tony Boze of Morristown, Tennessee.
Son, William and Donna Medley of North Manchester.
Son, John Medley of Columbia City.
Son, Joe and April Medley of Fort Wayne.
15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Brother, Noel of Arizona.
Sister, Pauline of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by three of his grandchildren; Heather Ann Medley, Audrey Nicole Medley, and David Michael Boze; brothers, Oren, Aubrey, Bill, Johnny, Joe, and Bob; sisters, Hilda, Ruth, Suzy, Martha, and Hazel.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM the chapel on the Veterans Administration Hospital campus, Marion, Indiana. 
Burial with United States Navy honors will be held at the committal shelter at 11:00 AM at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
