Sheroleen Ellen Franks, age 89, of Kendallville, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Chandler House near Kendallville. Mrs. Franks was born in Millersburg, Indiana on March 11, 1929 to the late Maynard J. and Beatrice I. (Yoder) Manges. She was a 1947 graduate of Ligonier High School and on June 6, 1947 in Ligonier, she married William Gene Franks. Bill preceded her in death on February 2, 2015. In her younger years, she worked at Shepherd’s Restaurant and The Master Werk Garment Factory in Ligonier. For many years, Sheroleen was the bookkeeper for Franks Construction and Franks Electric. She and Bill loved to travel and they visited all 50 states and Europe as well. Bill was a pilot and Sheroleen was his copilot. Together, they flew all over the country and Sheroleen helped read the map and plot their course of travel. She also helped build Bill’s experimental aircraft in the 1990’s which is now on display in the Kalamazoo Air Museum. She was an avid mushroom hunter.

Son, Michael and Donna Franks of Rome City.
Daughter, Rosellen and John Abney of Ringgold, Georgia.
Son, Robert and Marilyn Franks of Kendallville.
Five grandchildren: Todd and Helen Franks of Berthoud, Colorado; Jeff and April Franks of Frederick, Colorado; Jill Franks and husband, Rob Olson of Bottineau, North Dakota; Thomas Abney of Orlando, Florida; and Susan Abney of Ringgold, Georgia.
Four great grandchildren.
Sister, Cassandra Boyle of Albion.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Annette Maurer, Myrtle Tinkle, and Merna Trowbridge.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery.
